Junior Roundup of the Week
It was another packed weekend of junior football across the club. From brilliant battles to last‑minute winners, here’s the full roundup — plus our Team of the Week selections.
Boys U6s
The U6s delivered their best performance so far with a 6–2 away win at Colwyn Bay Bombers. The boys were brave, energetic, and full of enthusiasm, and the scoreline reflected the quality of their play.
POTM: the whole team.
Special mention: Erik Higham — strong, brave, and fast, with a few goals to top it off. Couldn’t have been more proud of the boys. 💙💛
Girls U7s
A frustrating 4–3 loss for the U7 girls against Llandudno Amateurs despite a dominant performance. The passing was excellent and there were real signs of game understanding, but the ball wouldn’t quite sit and the opposition’s goal defender made a couple of crucial blocks. Two own goals didn’t help, but this was a very positive showing overall and plenty to build on.
POTM: Layla Gadsby
Boys U8s
A thriller for the U8s, who edged a 5–4 win over Penrhyn Bay with a last‑minute screamer. It was a proper back‑and‑forth contest with both teams giving it everything. The decisive goal sparked huge celebrations and capped a brilliant team performance.
POTM: George Shannon
Boys U10s
U10s lost 1–0 to Penrhyn Bay Milan, conceding in the final 30 seconds. It was an excellent match to watch, with both teams playing at a really high level. Despite the late goal, this was a performance to be proud of — a great advert for grassroots football.
POTM: Oscar Wightman
Boys U11s
A dramatic 3–3 draw for the U11s against Llanrwst. The lads went 3–0 up and were still 3–1 ahead heading into the final quarter, but the opposition fought back. Despite the late equaliser, it was a hugely encouraging performance against a side that had only lost once all season. The work rate and intensity were outstanding, and the opposition definitely left knowing they had been in a proper battle.
POTM: Flyn Kelly
Girls U11s vs Girls U13s
A great battle between the U11s and U13s girls kicked off the morning. It was a real step up for the U11s in pitch size, match duration, and physicality, but they embraced it brilliantly. The focus was on moving the ball quickly and working triangles in tight areas, and the girls produced some lovely passages of play — including a couple of well‑worked goals.
It was also fantastic to see the team using the width effectively, stretching the game and creating space. At the back, Nancy put in a mature display in goal, confidently using her feet and showing great distribution to start attacks.
POTM (U11s): Florence Evans — tireless work rate and took on feedback brilliantly.
POTM (U13s): Olivia Rowlands
Boys U14s
The U14s came up against strong opposition and couldn’t quite find their rhythm in the first half, which left them chasing the game. Even though the result ended 5–0, the boys battled right to the end and never stopped working. There was real pride in the effort shown, and the coaches were quick to highlight the attitude and resilience on display — the bounce back starts now.
POTM: Harley Viney
Boys U15s — Cup Semi‑Final Bound
The U15s are through to the final after a superb 2–1 victory over Llanrwst. The performance was full of character, discipline, and togetherness — exactly what you need in knockout football. Every player gave everything, and the whole squad stepped up when it mattered. This was a genuine team effort and a proud moment for the group.
POTM: the whole squad.
Boys U16s
The U16s drew 2–2 with Llysfaen yesterday morning in their first home game for five months. A big shout‑out to Chris for the pitch — it was in great condition. The boys showed grit and togetherness, with another top performance from a familiar name.
POTM: Freddie Kewley — again. Put in a fantastic shift.
Special Mention — U16s stepping up
Special mention to three of the U16s squad — Freddie Kewley, Noah Egan, and Casper Rudkin — for stepping up to play for the development side in Sunday’s 4–1 win over Prestatyn Sports Development. It was Freddie Kewley’s first adult game, a big milestone for the lad.
Head of Development, Ryan Neal, said:
“It’s great to see the pathway from our junior section to the seniors in full flow. We recently had Noah and Casp getting their call‑ups to the development side, as well as Alwyn Teasdale in the first team squad at home to Llangefni a couple of weeks ago — which again shows the faith that our first team manager Azz Keating and development manager Adam Jones have within our junior setup.
Incredibly proud of these lads and we will continue to push our younger players to aspire to play for dev and first team going forward — the future is bright.”
