Safeguarding & Welfare at PPFC

Every child who plays for Penmaenmawr Phoenix FC deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued — on and off the pitch.

Our Commitment

Our Commitment to Every Player

At Penmaenmawr Phoenix FC, the welfare of every child and young person in our care is our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all players, volunteers, and families associated with the club.

We operate in full compliance with the Football Association of Wales Safeguarding Policy and all relevant Welsh and UK legislation concerning the protection of children and young people.

Every coach, team manager, and volunteer who works with children at PPFC holds a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and is registered with the FAW. No adult is permitted to work with junior players at PPFC without a current, valid DBS clearance.

DBS Checks Required

Safeguarding is central to everything we do. All adult volunteers and officials are required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before being fully confirmed in their role.

Information for Parents & Guardians

What to expect when your child joins PPFC

All new junior players and their parents/guardians will receive a welcome pack containing key contacts, codes of conduct, and information about how the club operates. Every coach working with your child holds a current DBS check. You are always welcome to watch training sessions and matches from the touchline.

Photography at matches and training

PPFC may take photographs and video at matches and training sessions for use on our website and social media. We will always ask for your consent when your child joins the club. If you withdraw consent at any time, please contact our Safeguarding Officer. We never publish images that identify a child by name on public channels without explicit consent.

Online safety

PPFC official social media channels do not publish the full names of junior players without parental consent. Coaches do not communicate with players directly via personal social media — all team communications go through official club channels or to parents directly.

How to raise a concern

If you have any concern — however small — about your child's welfare or the behaviour of anyone at the club, please contact Pete Roberts (Safeguarding Officer) using the contact details above. All concerns are taken seriously and handled with care and confidentiality.
